Yesterday, I met up with Rajiv in Brighton, a suburb south of Melbourne on the bay, and we went to the beach. Brighton beach is famous for its colorful bathing boxes.
So famous they even have their own web site! They remain from victorian, more prudish times, when they were built on many beaches. Today, the ones in Brighton are the only remaining ones close to Melbourne, though others survive around Port Philip Bay.
They’re a famous sight, and even though they have no water or electricity, they are prized possessions, with hundreds of thousands of Australian dollars. You can’t rent them, you have to know the owner…
The sight is great, with the blue skies, the beach… and in the distance you can see the Melbourne skyline. I wish I had brought my professional camera, but then it might not have been a good idea with the sand…

But, besides that, we went into the water! Clear, warm, salty… with the perfect sized waves that are not too strong but provide a nice flow….
Then we had a sleep on the beach. I think I might have gotten too much sun in the end, I forgot to apply sunscreen to my head, so I look like a tomato again.
