My friend Susanne from Brussels has arrived on Thursday. I know her for about ten years, and it’s fun to catch up, and enjoy Tel Aviv together.
We first walked around the craft market and the Carmel street market, and got some cherries and a 4-kg-Melon, for the beach.
The beach was our main destination for the day. We rented sun chairs and a parasol and just enjoyed hanging out at the beach. The water was nice and warm and we enjoyed some serious people watching.
The gang of teens, trying to be cool, smoke and drink beer and impress the surrounding girls, the beach hunks parading up and down, the girls showing off their new and improved bust…
Not to forget the countless players of Matkot, Israel’s unofficial national sport, a combination of tennis, ping pong and squash, the beach being filled with the endless sounds of the racket hitting the ball.
In the evening, as Shabbat started, the city slowed down, streets became quiet and many places closed, but we found a yummy Burger place where we over-ate and sabotaged our efforts to keep a slim beach silhouette.
