Rio revisited

It’s time to have a look back at Rio, so here’s the best-of. I first wanted to do it on Brazil as a whole, but São Paulo and Rio are Janeiro are just too different to put together in one…

If you have suggestions for other categories, shoot!

Best part/scene/place: Ipanema. Somehow in Rio, but it forms its own little universe.

Best drink (non-alcoholic): Mauricio’s Advocado Milk. Amazing stuff.

Best drink (alcoholic): Mauricio’s Caipirinha (by far the strongest)!

Best restaurant: Espiritu Santa. For their great service, the choice of veggie options and the super tasty food. I’m not done with that place.

Best bar: To nem ai Bar, for it’s nice, people-watching attitude

Most visited place: Caféina. Best coffee and a nice service.

Best movie: Gravity.

Song for Rio: Spirit indestructible (Nelly Furtado)

Best breakfast: Eggs and Hashbrowns at Gringo Café

Best speciality: Coconut milk right out of the fruit. And carving it out afterwards.

Best sight: Escadaria Selarón. For its colors, its ideals, its fun, and its sadness.

Most underrated: Centro. Worth a second look.

Most overrated: The beach hunks. Nice to watch, but…. come on, get a life. Read a book.

The most different from home: Stars, skies, climate, the intensity of the sun.

The same like at home: Holes in the sidewalks.

The most beautiful place: The view from the Sugar loaf.

The reason(s) for Binette to go there: The drinks!!!!

The reasons to come back: Need much more time to really explore this place. 17 days just aren’t enough!
