Auckland budget

New Zealand money is pretty similar to the Australian dollar. Maybe it comes from both being made of polymere… same feel.

The 10$ note depicts Kate Sheppard, suffragette, who won her country over to give women the vote already in 1893. Those Kiwis are progressive.

Speaking of which, of course the Kiwi is on the one Dollar coin. What else?

So here are the figures for the three weeks in Auckland…. I knew I would spend too much…

I decided to split this from the NZ Road Trip, to have more comparable figures of the cities I lived in. I fear that the road trip will become even more expensive and it would skew the picture for Auckland.

1335 € Accommodation (Ponsonby ain’t cheap)
495   € Restaurants & Bars
255   € Supermarkets
230   € Transport (including the expensive Taxi from the Airport)
165   € Other (phone, post, haircut…)
110   € Culture

In total 2590 €, which means 290 over budget. On top of that come a few other expenses (iTunes, Kindle books, and new sun glasses for 170 €).

It’s ok. I expected it to be far worse. I could have saved money on accommodation. But Ponsonby was a great place to stay.
