Turns out, I’m here during the Rio film festival, the Festival do Rio 2013. Tons of movies, playing in cinemas all across town.

They even have a big German film selection with films that never made it to the Belgian movie theaters…

Now the Rio night life will have to wait a bit. I’m at the movies!

So tonight I went with my two hosts and their sister-in-law to see Any Day Now, a touching and sad story about a gay couple wanting to take care of a kid with Down syndrome, in the 1970s.

It was touching, especially as the sister-in-law ahd a little boy with a disability too. She cried and hugged the director at the end of the movie.
