Odyssee @ Museu da Imagem e do Som

My new friend Lucas from Porto Allegre proposed to go to the Museu da Imagem e do Som de São Paulo, that is currently showing an exhibition on Stanley Kubrick.

I have seen some of his movies, some of them a really long time ago, and thought it could be fun, but had no expectations.

It turned out to be a fantastic exhibition, with rooms specially prepared for each of his movies, and themed appropriately.

For Shining, we were walking through a maze of hotel corridors and had to open doors to find some artefacts behind them. Jack’s typewriter, movie scripts, annotations, letters, sketches from the drawing board, movie scenes…

For 2001, we were in a white room with the black monolith, movie props, costumes, sketches, and the original Oscar statue…

Lolita exposed lots of protest letters from churches and citizens, Clockwork Orange had a number of works it inspired, Dr. Strangelove showed production stills, deleted scenes and more, while in the background the bombs were exploding on a big screen.

It was a great experience, and I need to do a re-run of his movies sometime soon!
