The Game reserve offers a limited number of elephant rides each day in the morning, when the big one, Sam, and his family, take you on a 30 minute ride through the little valley.

We were late with our booking, but our guide arranged for us to take one ride, cutting the morning tour a bit shorter.

They only do three tours with the elephants a day, after that, their work is done.

 

The little newborn is also walking with them, following his mom and one of the guides. As she knows them, they are pretty much the only humans she lest get close to her baby.

I sat on a couple of horses, but this is something different. So much bigger.

First you are like 4 meters up high, and your legs are stretched so wide apart, I really could only take 30 minutes of it. you should have seen me getting off and walking afterwards.

But the most impressive thing is feeling that huge animal underneath you, the sheer mass of it. Hard to believe it could run pretty fast if it wants, or attacks…
