Our second event in the book and our gift to the playa: Pina Coladas at Noon.
I was on the team with Brandon to organize this, luckily he had taken over that, while I was still back in Seattle. So the ingredients were there, we just needed to get the place in order, and get some more ice for the drinks.
As it is the law, we needed to check IDs, so we would not serve drinks to people under the age of 21. Luckily, our neighbor from the GenderBlender Camp, Dave, or, by his playa name Fearless, came over to help check ID’s before we handed out the drinks.
Black Rock City is no law free zone. You can get a speeding ticket or being pulled over or jailed for driving under the influence. The Nevada Rangers can and will interfere if anything illegal happens here.
Fearless also brought over a blender from his camp, so people could blend their Coladas, if they wanted. It’s great to have those neighbors and a good example of the spirit here at Burning man.
We were pretty successful, the queue went out of the camp, and we were afraid we would run out of ice and drinks, but luckily Tom went on another trip to Camp Artica to get ice cubes.
A girl gave me this beautiful Burning Man neckless as a gift. I was really touched. We also met a couple of other Burners, Apollo and Boomerang, and Matty from Camp Sweaty Betty’s, the spa tent just down the road.
Our event coincided with the naked playa bike ride, so that day you saw a lot of totally naked people around the city – even more so than on any other day. And the tent at the Comfort&Joy Camp saw some increased, em… traffic.
I spent the rest of the day just gallivanting around BRC. I got a beer at the Lil Crack Whore, enjoyed some time on a swing, got my growing beard massaged and oiled, danced and met another Madonna fan at an 80s party at Primate Playground.
In the evening we visited the GenderBlender Camp. They had a girl from San Francisco, playing on her guitar…. All in all, a normal day in Black Rock City.
