I spent Sunday afternoon in the park on Mont Royal, at the Tam Tam festival…
Hundreds of people gather there every Sunday during the summer months, to listen and dance to tam tam players, hang out on the greens, drink, smoke, or dance to the electronic DJ close to the gazebo.
It is a pretty alternative crowd hanging out there all afternoon until sunset. They do acrobatics, juggle, dance, play Frisbee or football, do cartwheels… it’s amazing to watch.
I had a field day with my camera… so many interesting people, dancing and swinging and having a good time.
The result: 974 pictures, 10 GB of data. I had my camera on continuous shooting mode to capture the the best scenes.
Here’s a small, small selection. There was so much more….
After that, I went downtown to meet my friend François, who I had met back in Buenos Aires, and his chum, and we saw Diana Krall, live at the Montréal Jazz Festival.
Well, kind of saw her, it was way to crowded to even get anywhere near the Place des Arts, so we were in a side street with a huge screen, and watched the two-hour free concert.
She played a number of own sounds and cover versions of Bob Dylan and Neil Young, and in the end, Elvis Costello joined her on stage.
Fantastic. And for free. I am blown away by this festival!
