Beach weekend

Temperatures are high this weekend in Vancouver. I have seen the city already. I am tired, after the beach yesterday, then GaGa at night, and a lot of beer in the bars afterwards. I came home at 4 am.

So Sunday was spent at the beach again, in its entirety. Wreck beach that is, again. It’s a great setting, with all the people, the music, the food stands selling buttery corn on the cob, peruvian empanadas, coconuts or Tofurkey Hot dogs for the vegetarians.

Ok, I will not go and see the art museum today, and as it is closed on Monday, not at all on this trip. Next time.

I stayed at the beach till shortly after sunset. Watching the sun go down over the Strait of Georgia, what separates the mainland from the adjacent Vancouver Island, is quite a sight.

Naked hippies dancing, couples cuddling in the beach, people leaning against the massive stranded logs… it’s definitely a Vancouver attraction.

I’d love to stay there overnight. The police comes and clears the beach just after sunset, but usually people come back down, and celebrate at night, with an occasional bonfire.

It must be magical, just as Hot Water Beach in New Zealand.
