Glenelg beach

The weather started to get better so I took a ride with Adelaide’s last remaining tram line, out to Glenelg, at the seaside.

It’s only about a half-hour ride on the modern tram.  On Sundays and public holidays they get out the old rolling stock and you can enjoy the ride in the original vintage car.

Glenelg is the beach resort of Adelaide, with shops and bars and restaurants, and a long jetty going out into the ocean.

The kids enjoyed jumping into the water, fully clothed.

I took a walk along the beach, the water being surprisingly warm – I was expecting another freezing experience, as Adelaide basically faces south, towards Antarctica.

I was being lazy again, and in the evening just had dinner in one of the many asian restaurants along Gouger street – there’s a little China town, too, but also a high number of Japanese restaurants, so I had a wonderful original Ramen. Arigato gosaimasu!

After that I finished reading a book in a small wine bar, The Cork Wine Café, with a lovely Shiraz from South Australia.
