Hanami

After the rain yesterday, Tokyo showed its most beautiful side today, with deep blue skies. Perfect to walk along the neighboring Meguro River, that runs through the neighborhood and gives it its name.

The river is heavily landscaped, it looks more like a canal now, but has nice cherry tree lined promenades on each side. It’s buzzing with Japanese enjoying Sakura, the cherry blossoming, partying underneath.

Alongside, under the trees, sit a number of restaurants, little design shops, second hand shops and many many food trucks or more or less improvised food and alcohol vendors.

You can enjoy a bubbly Rosé or a hot wine, roasted sweet potatoes, a number of japanese finger food or Döner Kebap.

It’s a pretty magical sight, the trees, the wind swirling around the blossom leaves… and you see everyone smile.

There’s a whole forecast website, so you can plan your trip accordingly. This is what it looked already a few days later, at night.

  1. Great photos of all the cherry blossoms! It’s making me really want to get a better camera. I love how you captured the falling petals so well.
