I’m sick in bed with a sore throat, despite the heat outside. So I might as well work on a few things on my PC, as calculating my budget….
I liked the colorful Uruguayan money. Though it was difficult to grasp the value… dividing by 28 to arrive at a Euro value isn’t my strong point.
The Argentina figures will come shortly. Here’s the overview on Uruguay:
290 € Accommodation
140 € Ferry
100 € Restaurants & Bars
35 € Transport
25 € Supermarkets
10 € Culture
Accommodation was the most expensive, obviously. It was hard to find something cheaper. Hotels were pretty much booked out at the time, even though it was in the middle of the week.
Some hotels in the Centre or the old town still had rooms, but especially the old town wasn’t deemed to be so safe at night.
Taxis and busses were really cheap, 21 UYU$ for a bus ride, around 70 Euro cents. A taxi ride through half of the town cost 100 -150 UYU$ – 3 to 5 €.
Eating out was cheap, for coffee and croissants… The restaurants were a bit more expensive, but still within a reasonable price range for the amount of food you got.
Total: 600 € for a four day trip. That’s a bit over budget, but as I think I have not spent as much in Buenos Aires, I’m still fine.
