Movie Day

Monday started out hot and cloudy, but temperatures dropped significantly during the day. I went for a swim in the pool, the water being eerily hot in comparison to the cold wind…. and then on to see a movie.

I was set to see the latest Meryl Street Movie, August Osage County, that earned her her… what… 20th Oscar nomination?

LAmerican Hustleittle did I know that Monday is movie day in Australia, and prices are half off.

I arrived at the little independent cinema Nova in this small shopping arcade in Carlton… only to find a queue reaching till the far end of the arcade. Ten minutes before Meryl was on.

Ok, I kind of made it on time, but Meryl was of course SOLD OUT! Next option, Ten minutes later: American Hustle. No idea what it was, just saw: Ten Academy Award nominations. Good enough for me.

It was fun. I needed a bit of time to adapt, as it first started out, and could have been, a serious movie about corruption and con artists in the 70s… but it veered into the comical from time to time, and more and more… So I decided that it was not a serious, bad movie, but a really good, fun one.

Go watch it…

It had rained in the meantime, and I biked home. I dismissed my earlier plan for final beers in a neighborhood bar – and just watched some Australian TV show called Q&A with Kate, a glass of wine, did some emails and went to bed. Not bad, that day.
