In general, as expected, Santiago was on the cheaper side.
The apartment was slightly cheaper than my first. I spent more money on eating out and drinking this time. Even though I had a kitchen, I did not cook that much.
Cultural activities seem low, but a lot of museums are free or cost less than a Euro entry…
Chilean coins are cute, but pretty pointless. I think no one uses or bothers much with anything less than 50 Peso, and the 100 Peso are often referred to as 1.
I wish they would take out a couple of zeros from their money, it would greatly simplify things….
So here are the figures for the second round in Santiago:
520 € accommodation
415 € eating out & drinks
125 € supermarkets
95 € other expenses (phone, hair dresser, etc…)
75 € transport
10 € cultural activities (entry fees, etc…)
In total, I spent 1240 Euro, and hence stayed under my (by now hypothetical) budget.
Hypothetical, as there’s no money left and I’m operating on loans and credit cards, but I kept the same basic budget as for all the other cities in mind, to make it comparable.
