Shopping for the desert

Burning Man is only a few days away and I am busy assembling my stuff.

I’ll get my tent from Brandon, the bike from Dennis, I still need an air mattress (and pump) some airtight containers (against the dust) and a few smaller things.

I’m testing the bike tires right now and will go on a ride around the block to see if the brakes work…

IMG_7013The shopping list contained sun block, moisturizer, eye drops, ear plugs, a bandana, a headlight, dust goggles, a tent light, glow sticks for the bike, body paint, nasal spray, snacks, some drinks, a bike lock, chain oil, baby wipes, a sleeping bag, Kleenex, batteries, a blanked, cushions…

An afternoon at Target, Home Depot and Safeway provided for most of the stuff.

I have most of it ready now.

Here I am testing my new Burning Man desert dust ski goggles, that I can wear over my normal glasses.

One more ride to Target and I should be good. A lot of the stuff I can borrow from my friends Renato and Dennis, thanks to their endless generosity.

I’ll assemble everything for thursday evening when we drop it off at our friends. Friday morning we load the U-haul truck and off we go.

Here’s a funny tumblr blog about Burning Man problems.

Thanks BJ!
