It’s time for the movies. During Pride, Tel Aviv also celebrate its LGBT film festival, TLVFest.

It’s perfect after a long day under an umbrella at the beach, to go see a movie in a cool, dark place!

I went there to see Rosie, a Swiss movie, but alas, somehow they had first to delay and then to cancel the screening, due to some technical difficulties.

But TLVFest is generous, I got a voucher and they invited us to a free drink at the opening ceremony and gave us free tickets for the screening of the opening movie.

By coincidence, I also ran into my friends Davidi and Shlomi, so I had company.

The opening movie, Guttman X 5 is an interesting project, five short movies inspired by the life and works of Israeli director Amos Guttman.

I had never heard of him, but he seems to have been a defining force in Israeli cinema.

I’ll discover some of his works during the festival.

He died of Aids in 1993, and the last episode was a heart-wrenching look back from his mother Kati, who still lives in Tel Aviv, and talks about her son.

I rounded off the night at Shpagat, a nice relaxed bar, that had it’s Arabian night with a DJane spin some hot and cool Arab tunes.

So this is the project for the next few days: beach&sun, then movies&drinks at night, plus a quick visit from Alicia from Brussels, who is here for work for a few days.
