The city was plastered with posters for this Michael Jackson Tribute party, celebrating the release of this second post-mortem album with unreleased songs that have been finished by different producers. Impossible to ignore.
My friend Davidi also wanted to go, so off we went to that club, located in the Central Bus station in Tel Aviv.
It’s called The Block, and organizes different parties throughout the month, all with a different style.
This one was pure 80s pop, one hit after the other, called Fourth Grade.
Their sound system is fantastic. Even though a bit loud (and that means something from me who, after 52 Madonna shows, is somewhat deaf.)
Among pretty much all MJ classics from Billie Jean to Don’t stop till you get enough, and two short shows by an MJ impersonator, they played everything from Eurythmics to the Pet Shop Boys.
But also forgotten pop trash like Rick Astley, Sabrina’s Boys Boys Boys, early Kylie and of course, the Queen herself, Madonna (I’d say she came in a clear second after Michael).
I never thought I’d dance to her 1982 single Burning up in a club, ever!
Each time I wanted to leave, another great track came on, and so I danced on from 1 to 4.30…
Who can resist when you can look into Bette Davis Eyes on the dance floor? That was definitely the best night out ever…
