Like a Rolling Stone

There are some things in life that are just on everyone’s bucket list – or should be. And attending a concert by the Rolling Stones would be one of those things, at least for me.

I have already missed out on Michael Jackson, and those guys aren’t getting younger, so you better go while you can.

I’m not a big fan at all, I don’t think I even own an album, and I could only name maybe three or four songs from the top of my head.

But in the end, it sounded like a Greatest Hits Tour to me, I did know most of the songs, subconsciously.

Tel Aviv was plastered with advertisements for the gig when I arrived, and for their first ever concert in Israel. Even aged 70 you can still have a very first time…

The Stones chose Hayarkon Park in the north of Tel Aviv for their 14 on fire-Tour.

It’s a park with a little hill, so everyone could have a great view on the big stage. The sound was perfect.

Mick Jagger is still strutting on the stage like an old drag queen without drag, with all these typical gestures that would look ridiculous on anyone, and especially a 70-year-old man…

But somehow he pulls it off, looking damn cool, and simply like… Mick Jagger!

Keith Richards by now looks like his own Zombie, and will probably live forever with all the artificial substances he has consumed over time, but is simply the coolest I-don’t-give-a-damn-Fucker on stage, and is having fun.

The voices were still good, too, even with all the running, and overall, they just know how to stage a rock show.

The weather played a little trick, it got hotter and hotter during the day, and in the evening temperatures must have reached much more than 35 degrees…

But on top, suddenly the air got dusty and hard to breathe… Called Hamsin or Sharav, the air is filled with dust or sand… Thank got they served moderately priced beer!

Must have been hard for them on stage, too. On the other hand, they probably have inhaled worse than desert sand…
