Back to civilization

We got up at 3 something this morning and packed up our tents and loaded the rest of our stuff into the U-haul, and drove off the playa at around 4…

All in order to avoid the mass exodus from Burning man that would inevitably clog the playa and the streets to Reno a few hours later…

Imagine several thousand cars, trucks, RV’s and art cars all moving over the playa and onto a one-lane road…

So we made the 123 miles without much problem and arrived around 8 in the morning in our hotel in Reno. We opted to stay here one night instead of driving through to the Bay area, as it is Labor Day today, half the US is traveling and on the road.

Instead, a 50$ supplement got all of us into the spa early and we showered, steamed, sauna’ed and jaccuzzi’ed off the dust, then spend the morning at the pool until our rooms were ready.

I am tired as hell, I still feel dusty, from the inside… my throat, my lungs… my feet are sore and dried out by the alkali dust of the playa…

I will start posting about Burning man in the next couple of days, so watch this space… (and scroll down, I will publish the posts retroactively on the day when it happened)
