Ticked a few things off my list today.
I went to the Japanese Tourist office to get my voucher for the train ticket trough Japan from a super lovely agent. She was sooo polite…! I’ll be in for a treat in Japan.
I also got a number of brochures and maps… I seriously have to start planning where I’ll go after Tokyo (but I am soooo tired of planning trips… you have no idea).
Then I brought my lovely rubber bag I got in Santiago to a repair shop. I carried too much stuff in it and the rubber started to tear… They promised to fix and stabilize it till Saturday.
After that, quick veggie sushi at a place I could not resist in Newmarket, a quick hello to Clint who lives nearby and a stroll to the War Memorial Museum…
Again, I managed to arrive 25 minutes before it closed! I don’t know why they close their museums so early down under… come on, 5 o’clock?
Anyway, the guy was really nice and let me in for 20 minutes to have a stroll. I’ll be back, there’s a lot to learn about Māori culture.
From there, a stroll through Parnell, a nice, upper-scale neighborhood east of the Auckland domain with lots of cafés, furniture shops, boutiques, jewelry… It was the first suburb of NZ, established in 1841.
After that, and considering I hadn’t slept well at all the night before, I went home, had a nap, then went to Café Cezanne for a smoothie, sorted my files and then went home to cook and watched Modern Family.
Nothing exciting on this day, just a normal day in Auckland… But I am glad I have these days without any program or schedule.
