Mr. & Ms Howell is located on bustling Sydney Road in Brunswick, a lively neighborhood in the north of Melbourne, not unlike Fitzroy. It got its name from two characters from the US sitcom Gilligan’s Island.
The Brunswick street fair is coming up, so the restaurant will have a stand outside in the street, serve BBQ and they will all dress up as characters from the series. I wish I was still there for that.
It’s a cute little restaurant, with a great menu, that tried to reflect a true Melbourne cuisine with its multicultural elements of Asian, Middle Eastern, Mediterranean or African origins.
Unfortunately, I only came here on my last day. I would have liked to sample more, the chickpea tabouleh, zucchini fritters, quinoa asparagus salad… But the almond crested goats cheese went very well with a couple of glasses of white!
Kate joined me for a glass, before the 7pm rush hour began, and we talked a bit about traveling, the house, the possums eating the plants… I really enjoyed my month in her home, she was a fantastic host and I’ll miss her.
