2014 is over… I guess it was probably the most exciting year of my life, being on the road for mostly all of it and only 3 days at home.
How to celebrate that…? We just went to the beach! It was immensely hot, 35 degrees, we were sleepy from a long night out with Branden the day before… so we just headed to Clifton 3rd to sleep under an umbrella.
We had tried to get a table somewhere in the Restaurants, but everything at the Waterfront was either booked out, a private function, or only had set menus, with 5 courses and stuff, something we were not keen on.
So in the end we just slept a bit, then cooked some simple spaghetti, and got ready for town.
We headed to the Waterfront, where thousands of people were lining up the quays and grooving to the music from the stage across the water.
We had a – seemingly – good spot on top of a balcony overlooking the crowds.
But come midnight, we realized the fireworks were in our backs behind the building we were in – and we could not see a thing.
They were launched over the water, so we quickly ran through the V&A mall onto the other side to watch. It was a nice firework, rather short and not to be compared to the pyrotechnical craziness of Sydney.
From there we went to out parties in de Waterkant, the White party around Amsterdam bar, where a young group of Afrikaans cowboys were playing, to Crew, a multi-level disco and bar.
However, as often, we were simply tired. We had gone out and gotten pretty drunk the night before, and the day at the beach took its toll too… Sven went home at around 2, and I followed a bit later.
So all in all, a more quiet NYE this time, with just a couple of drinks and some friends. All good, I always feel NYE is somewhat overrated and I have spent many of them at home and being in bed at 12.30.
2014 was amazing, but 2015 will be a good one too, three more months of traveling, then going home and getting settled again, a Madonna tour looming, more traveling….!
Don’t you ever
Please don’t
Please don’t
Please don’t tell me to stop!
