‘Straya Day Weekend

Unlike last year, where I went on a Picnic with Will and Rajiv and we ended up getting drunk, and I had tickets for a Midsumma show, and saw the fireworks, this year’s Australia Day announced itself pretty mellow.

My hosts Sara & Lisa were out to Brisbane for the weekend, so I had the house to myself, and most friends just didn’t really have plans and wanted to play it by ear.

That was fine with me, I’m a bit exhausted from all the going out in this first week.

I simply headed down to the St. Kilda kite beach, and met up with Michael, who is a kite surfer.

He recently acquired a used kite, and I just sat in the sand watching him battling with the wind and the waves, and his kite.

The beach wand water was filled with surfers. Pretty impressive sport, and speedy. I wonder how they don’t collide on the water all the time of het helplessly entangled in each other’s kite strings.

The wind picked up and tore two of Michael’s strings, so we headed back and had some ‘Straya Day drinks and food in the beach bar. Pretty mellow day!

In the evening, and to everyone’s shock, The Peel, was closed, which lead to a ridiculous waiting line outside of Sircuit…. I took it easy, and didn’t stay long… for once, I was in bed at a civilian time.
