I slept in today, while Sue was up for getting a pedicure on Sheinkin Street in a little beauty parlor….
When I got up, I went over to the Dizengoff shopping mall to get tickets for the Rolling Stones who will be playing their first ever gig here on Wednesday. However, the queue was enormous and not moving at all, so I went back.
I had missed Susanne just by a split second, but by the time I found her again she had already bought two tops, a dress, and flip flops. Women! Don’t leave them alone!
We had planned to go to Jaffa, by bike, along the promenade, and visit the old little town that gave, somewhat, birth to Tel Aviv.
But then, well, summertime slowness set in, and we could only get ourselves to walk over to this perfect Tel Aviv beach again.
Another afternoon spent in the waves, and in the shade, eating perfect cherries till we felt we’d burst.
In the evening, we had a great dinner in a cute book store/coffee shop/rooftop bar/restaurant: The Little Prince. Inside, heavy leather couches, chairs and book shelves, outside the perfect roof top terrace with a view over the pedestrian zone.
The menu is short, but authentic, local dishes, from fried fish to weird combinations of salads. We had a sweet salad with pears, nuts and lychees, and a spicy one with yogurt, different tomatoes and croutons. All super yummy and fresh.
I fear this blog is going to be boring as hell in Tel Aviv. I am pretty determined to spend time at the beach everyday and get some reading done, and then try the different bars and pubs at night…
