The week in Bangkok is already over. To my shame I have to admit I haven’t done much and explored only a few parts of town.
In my defense, in 34 degrees and with that humidity, I simply could not be bothered. The pool seemed like such a great alternative.
Even late at night I am sweating like a pig when I go out. It’s no fun. When I come back it will be in winter.
And on top of it all, it’s month #14. Right now, I simply don’t have the energy. I’m not as tired and beat as I was I Osaka, but I am at a low point of my energy. I sleep in. I don’t do much during the day and I don’t even go out much at night.
The two parties with Daria were pretty much the only real nightlife. And even then, we were home and in bed at around 1.30 in the morning. Not really up till dawn.
So I finish this week with a few impressions, from my favorite places, cafés, markets, and general impressions in Bangkok. It’s a thriving city, fast-paced, loud, busy… and did I mention hot?
I hope my trip through India will be somewhat more quiet, even though ‘quiet’ might not be the appropriate word.
But then, I hope I made the right choice and have some in-built breathing space, in towns like Khajuraho, where I have five days that I surely will not need for the Jain temples.
This would leave some time to hang out, maybe do a cooking class or even just read a book.
I’m already looking forward at a relaxed time in Cape Town with Sven, driving through the vineyards and sipping a drink on a veranda…. Followed by another relaxed month in Australia.
I also wrote a first email to human resources, just to be in touch with the colleague who will organize my re-integration into work. It seems a bit surreal to me. I don’t want to think about it just yet.
